            MEMBERSHIP
   We all should feel honored that we were asked to become members of La Societe.  Along with that honor, comes an obligation to REMAIN active in our Local Voitures.  Certainly there is no more important part of being active than be being current in our dues.
 
   As we all know, dues are due and payable by October 20 of each year.  All officers of a Voiture Locale are required to have their dues paid before assuming office.
 
   So... Does your card say 2012?  ...Thanks for looking!

Voyageurs,

     The past week Region 1 had an increase of 2.61% which is an increase of 106 members.  This is an increase that we should strive to obtain again this week.  All the Grandes in Region 1 have reached the 75% mark.  An increase of numbers like this past week are still needed to keep us on our way to 100%
     GRAND DU MONTANA HAD NO INCREASE IN MEMBERSHIP AGAIN THIS PAST WEEK WHICH IS 3 WEEKS RUNNING WITH NO INCREASE.
     THE GRANDES OF IDAHO and NEBRASKA BOTH HAVE A LOCALE WITH A GOOSE EGG.  
     What Locale will be added to the 100% list next week?
     Grande du California had an increase of 55 members this past week and is now at 78.86% of membership for 2012 and needs 292 members for 100%.  Voitures 621 and 1161 still only have PAID LIFE MEMBERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and have not submitted any membership for 2012.  Congratulations to the following Locales for Reaching or exceeding 100%: V-27, V-36, V47, V-109, V358, V395, V557, V858 and V1450.  One increase of 100% Locales this week.    

Grande du Idaho had an increase of only 1 member this past week and is at 75.12%  and needs 52 members for 100%.  Locale 1196 is still a Goose Egg Voiture????????????  Voiture 216 still has only Paid Life Members !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Congratulations to the following Locales for reaching or exceeding 100%: V-197, V311 and V336.  No increase of 100% Locales this week.
     Grande du Iowa had an increase of 9 members this past week and is at 84.32%. Voiture 865 has only Paid Life Members !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Grand Du Iowa now needs 98 members to achieve 100% membership for 2012.  Congratulations to the following Locales for reaching or exceeding 100%: V66, V82, V283, V285, V315, V584, V661.  No increase of 100% Locales this week.
     Grande du Montana had NO increase of members again for the third week and is still at 80.00%.    Grand Du Montana needs 26 members to achieve 100% of Membership for 2012.  Congratulations to Voiture 922 for reaching 100%. 
     Grande du Nebraska has had an increase of 8 members this past week and is at 79.47% and needs 140 members for 100%. Locale 1572 still has an unacceptable Goose Egg ?????????    Congratulations to the following Locales for reaching or exceeding 100%:  V841, V1218 and V1279.  No increase of 100% Locales this week. 
     Grande du Oregon had an increase of 20 members this past week and is at 82.67% and needs 48 members for 100%.  Locale 727 still has only Paid Life Members.  Congratulations to Locales V-80, V-547 andV891 for reaching or exceeding 100%.  One increase of 100% Locales this week.
     Grande du Washington had an increase of 13 members this past week and is at 87.12% and needs 98 members for 100%.  Locale 371 still has only Paid Life Members !!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Locales 151 and 996 turned in their Charters.  Congratulations to Locales 87, 90, 96 and 99 for reaching 100%.  An increase of one 100% Locale this week.

To All Members of the 2012 "I Salute You" Membership TEAM

My Fellow Membership TEAM Members;

     In the past 3 years that I have been associated with the Nationale Membership Committee a term that I dislike pops up every so often and I would like to dispel this thought now. Voyageurs will come up to me and say “how is your membership committee doing this year” or “is your membership committee going to reach its goals this year?” Let me clear the air now by stating that this is not MY membership committee, as a matter of fact nothing could be further from the truth. This is a membership TEAM with each member equally vested into the success or failure of this TEAM. This is the only concept that will work efficiently. Allow me to explain my meaning on this.
     This TEAM is made up of individual parts that each has a responsibility, that when working together properly insures that we get the most effective production. We have 8 Sous Directeurs, each responsible for a Region made up of Grandes and Voiture Locales. Their duty is to inform, motivate and communicate with those Grandes and Locales, paying special attention to the problem and underachieving ones. It is their responsibility to make sure that the membership information and communication gets to the base root of La Societe and that is the Locales. The Sous Directeurs actually are the first line troops or “foot soldiers” in the national battle for membership success.
     We have 4 Sous Chefs de Chemin de Fer who are each charged with the responsibility of their Area, which is made up of a group of Grandes. They have the duty of working with the Grande membership committees and officers by dispersing all the information, motivation and assistance that they can possible offer. Once again paying special attention to problem Grandes. They also make visits to their Area Grandes to promote membership and act as Ambassadors for La Societe at the discretion of Voiture Nationale.
     Next we have an administrative and support staff at Voiture Nationale that keeps all membership records for the year and updates the committee on a weekly basis of productivity. They also are there to answer a quandary of questions that are asked by the general membership. They are available to the committee at all times to assist in answering questions and assisting in solving problems. They collect the membership dues and report the members that are paid as well as send out renewal notices to all unpaid members during the year. This support is valuable and allows the committee to have more time to do the “field work” of membership, i.e. direct contact by emails, letters, phone calls, etc.
     We have a Nationale Committee Advisor who happens to be a Chef de Chemin de Fer Passe. His duty is to oversee this committee, make policy on membership committee activities and offer guidance with his knowledge of past years experience. He lays out a program idea that will be successful and monitors and adjusts it as the year progresses. He is there for advice and is the last line of defense for a successful year.
     And then you have me, the Directeur. The Directeur’s responsibility is to coordinate all the parts of the membership committee to move in the same direction. He is also the checks and balances system to oversee that all the members of the committee are performing their duties as best they can. The Directeur has the duty of supplying the committee with the most up to date information on membership as quickly as possible. He is also to make himself available to answer questions and offer support to all members. He fulfills a need, just as everyone else does, no more or less important than the other members.
     So as you can see this is not  MY  TEAM,  but it is OUR  TEAM,  with each one of us playing an integral part in the success of membership in La Societe. This TEAM is the only committee in La Societe that is identified by a TEAM shirt and logo that changes every year for each new TEAM. This is a symbol of the unity of this TEAM, very similar to the military in wearing a uniform and a unit patch. I am very proud to be a part of this 2012 “I Salute You” membership TEAM made up of all these fine components.
